WHAT DO WE DO?
If you're looking for the short version, it's this: We help parents of neurodivergent teenagers who hope to go to college after high school. We do this by providing them with education, strategies, and support.
If you want the long(er) version, keep reading.
Our Basic Ed Group is for parents who don't have a lot of time but are interested in learning as much as possible about how to engage more effectively with their teen. It includes:
- Group office hours 2 times per month with Loni and Katie
- Access to our online library of printable resources
- A list of recommended books and other media resources
- A private online group to connect with others judgment-free
This group consists of an unlimited number of participants.
Our live (in-person or virtual) parent groups are co-led by Katie Vandervalk, M.S., SLP, ADHD-CCSP and Loni Rowe, MSW, LCSW. Based on years of experience and combined knowledge, groups are discussion-based and designed to provide evidence-based education that will build skills, including:

- How to communicate more effectively with your teenagers so everyone feels heard.
(Hint: Less is often more. Also, whenever possible, fight the urge to tell them what to do. Rather, ask them questions like, "What do you want the plan to be?" or "How do you want to handle this?")
- How to establish appropriate expectations based on both developmental and biological age.
(Hint: Chores are a good thing. Teach them now so they can be good roommates and partners in the future!)
- How to set up boundaries that feel right and work for both you and your teen.
(Hint: It's MORE than OK for them to experience discomfort and make mistakes. That's when growth, learning, and grit excel!)

- How to tackle the college search, including what to look for based on what your teen wants and needs. Also, how to choose wisely (or as wisely as possible) when making the final decision.
(Hint: This should come from them and feel really hard for you to keep your opinion quiet!)

- How and when to navigate fading parental support sooner rather than later.
(Hint: No way you want the training wheels to come off during the first semester!)

- What to expect once they launch, including how to help them manage their newfound independence.
(Hint: This might actually be the hardest part!)

This group is capped at 10 members.
